Hauntcast Resurrection?

Okay, I'm willing to give in to wild speculation. Is the premiere Halloween and haunt related podcast Hauntcast making a comeback? Is it being resurrected from it's ignominious death just three loooooong months ago?

As I said, I'm up for rumor-mongering, but the Hauntcast page on Facebook posted a cryptic status update saying "Somethings brewing in the podosphere." Immediately loyal minions (me included) jumped to the immediate conclusion Chris Baker is resurrecting the show. Who knows if it's true, but it's fun to muse over the possibility.

Truth is, the podcast domain has been a barren wasteland since Hauntcast left the airwaves. I think some vloggers on YouTube have tried to pick up the mantle, notably "Dead with Dave" from Pandemic Productions, but it's hard to argue that the 2-hour extravaganzas Baker produced with Hauntcast were just awesome Halloween ear candy.

Time will tell, I guess, but for now, we can imagine and savor the possibility of its return. Shelly? JT? Denny? Rev? Care to burst the bubble?

  1. Well I hope that rumor is true. And if so, I hope they stick to it this time.

  2. How is that being a douche? Wasn't being mean, just hope you stick to it this time is all. Now I know why people where calling me that. It was from you. You don't see me having my friends trash you like you have been doing to me. That is what I call a douche.

Sorry GC, didn't mean for this to happen.

  3. I never had anyone trash you. You are just a A$$ clown. Do you ever read your own posts?

  4. I do. Do you ever read your DJs blogs? That is where the trashing is coming from. I normally get around 5 hits on my blog. All of a sudden I start getting alot from one of your DJs. I have been alot of people sending me messages with that same Douchetouch. So I know where that is coming from. Now who is the A$$. The only thing I have ever said is that I am not going to pay the 12 bucks. I have never said anything negitive towards you or any of your DJs. And with the 4 hits I get a month, it really should be any problem to you.

  5. I am sorry GC. I am going to stop now. I don't mean to put this on your blog. It isn't fair to you. I am truly sorry GC.

    1. Well, I do find this fascinating. Must come from 20 years of responding to domestic disputes and watching people swing wildly at one another. :)

While I obviously had a different opinion than you did on the value of Hauntcast and whether it was worth paying for, I never begrudged you the right to hold and express a different viewpoint.

The free exchange of ideas is best as it allows others to make judgment calls on as much information as possible. So no worries, no problem on my end.

      Cheers,
      Rich

  6. Shelly has a mind of her own as does anybody else who commented on your blog. They obviously don't like you, for good reason. I didn't care about your blog post and still don't give a damn. You don't matter. I just didn't want you listening to my show whether you paid or not. Contact me through the Hauntcast site if you want to continue this nonsense.

  7. Mark, people probably call you a douchebag all the time without Chris's help. Your posts border on offensive cyber-bullying, and people recognize that aspect of your personality, thus they call you names.

Please go back to your mom's basement and continue to watch re-runs of Star Trek from whatever free website on which you've found them, and quit bothering us. I personally find you tiresome.

  8. GC: I apologize that Mark's childish diatribe was aired here. I have respect for you and have no wish to offend you.

The only way that Hauntcast would return is if we had considerable outside funding, and it's plain the haunt community is unable or unwilling to support that. But that's old news. No need to beat that particular dead horse.

  9. GC, I didn't mean to let loose on your blog, but Sloat finally hit my hot button. When we went a dollar an episode he posted on his and other blogs that he didn't think we were worth the buck. OK. When we went back free he was more than happy to listen, so I guess it was worth something just not a buck. Oh, he has enough money to go to Transworld though. Anyway, then when we went off the air he made another snide blog post that we were going off the air because of the $1 an ep thing. OK. he posted Hauntforum about other so called free/discount voice over sites because he thought my voiceovers were too expensive, while he was listening to Hauntcast for free. Then he wants us back, so can can listen for free, not support the show or my business, and states "I hope they stick to it this time." I've been biting me tongue for over a year and I just couldn't hold back any longer.

  10. Sorry GC I feel the need for a rebuttal the last comment. I hope you can mediate. In my defense Judge GC, the plaintiff suggests that I posted on multiple blogs, to which I only have one that lists anything about hauntcast. There was no mass posting to multiple blogs as he suggests. You can check to my list of blogs to concur. I get about 5 hits a month. Not enough to pose a threat to the plaintiff. I can give documents from blogspot if the court so orders it. That rate then went global when his employee decided it was important to point out my blog post. I did complain, but nothing came of that. No one cared. In my blog that the plaintiff speaks of, I made sure that I was not being derogatory and that I still liked the show. When Hauntcast announced that they were going pay-per-vew, they didn’t give the audience too much notice. Even Comcast has to give you more time before they hit you up for more fees. Not to mention, most podcasts I listen to get their revue from their sponsors. Most radio station I listen too also use the same system. If most podcast are free, my reasoning, probably sounding negative to him is when you are on your last dollar after paying bills and feeding the kids is that listening to a podcast isn’t as important when your family comes first. What does a haunter do when he doesn’t have a dime to his name and faced to pay a dollar when he doesn’t have it, he chooses the cheaper source, such as RFR. Maybe the same that most of the people of that listened had to do.

  11. Dude, it was a dollar! Seriously, a dollar! How much did Transworld set you back? If it wasn't worth a dollar to you then it's not worth listening for free. Now you can't because idiots like you killed the show. Go listen to RFR.

  12. My point exactly. It was just a dollar. So move on already. Why are you focusing solely on me when the highest amount you would get from me is a dollar? And that dollar adds up to 12 for a year. That is the same for a magazine. I need another bill like I need a hole in the head right now. Give me a break already. And I am certainly not going to give someone a dollar that demands it and feels I owe it to him. You think I am the one that closed the doors, but it took a lot more than just me. Numbers don’t lie. You are calling 95% of your listening audience idiots, not just me. Maybe your first mistake. It was not us that closed the doors at Hauntcast, it was you. I resent you blaming us on your failures, and I resent you for forcing me to make my blog private. I feel you are focusing on me just because I stood up to the man. Something you do on your show all the time and something you admire in your DJs. But yet I am the A$$ Clown and you a God. That my friend is being a hypocrite. Now, you are trying to get the masses going, thinking you are going to reopen, when it is obvious you have no plans to do it. Can in-point the subject of this blob. The funny thing is, you don’t even care.

  13. Between Comcast's enormous subscriber base and their advertising fees, Comcast can afford to give a month's notice. We do not have the luxury of millions of dollars of revenue.

The bottom line is that no one likes to feel taken for granted or taken advantage of.

    Whatever, man.

  14. People focus on you because you are a loud mouth. I have moved on and don't care about someone as insignificant as yourself. You were the one who commented that we should come back to and stick with it for morons like you that didn't support the show in the first place. What don't you get? Do you have an extra chromosome or something. There is no such thing as a free lunch. TV and radio shows stay on the air because people support them and their advertisers and don't turn against them when they have to make changes to keep the show on the air. I love the fans that supported the show and at least didn't criticize my decisions to keep it going.
I am considering bringing the show back, but it would be subscription, so cheap douches like you won't be able to listen.
You act like a man online, but wouldn't have the balls to say anything to my face.

  15. Well, that is fine. Good luck and I hope it sticks this time. I still think you took me out of context but we both know you were not here to bury the hachet. Except to the side of my head. Tried to ask you specifically what is wrong and I tried explaining my side of the story to no avail. Tried to go over my posts to figure out what I could of done different to resolve this issue but all posts remind me of a commentary in a monkey masturbation marathon. What I ever I say or do wont be good enough. Probably will have nightmares of being chased by the paperboy like in "Better off Dead" for months.(want my two dollars) So with that I would like to wish you luck and I hope you get what you are searching for. Douchetouch signing out.

  16. I'm guessing at this point everyone knows where everyone else stands on the issue and there's probably not much more than can be said at this point -- nothing that would be constructive anyway -- so I'll close the comments on this post. Fascinating reading nonetheless.
